Blanketing your horse isn’t one-size-fits-all. While many horses handle winter just fine on their own, others need protection depending on weather, coat condition, and daily routine.
Types of Horse Blankets

Sheet: Lightweight, for mild weather or layering

Lightweight: Cool temps (fall/spring)

Midweight: Standard winter use

Heavyweight: Extreme cold or clipped horses
Understanding Blanket Weights
Blanket weight refers to the amount of insulation inside the blanket.

0g = no insulation (sheet)

100–200g = light insulation

200–300g = moderate warmth

300g+ = heavy insulation
Daily Blanket Care

Remove blankets daily when possible

Check for rubbing at shoulders and withers
